Jerome Seguin

bass

Jerome Seguin studied bass at the Conservatory of Paris, the Conservatory of Montreuil, and at conservatories in Rennes and Caen. He won the first professional award of the National Competition Jazz Valves and won 3rd place in the French National Jazz competition. Although Jerome mostly plays jazz, he also enjoys performing traditional music, including African, Oriental and Mediterranean music. He tours regularly in North Africa and the Middle East with Tunisian singer Abir Nasraoui and Egyptian oud player Ihab Radwan, and also tours with a flamenco band and with the Plaza Mayor Caribbean Jazz Orchestra. In 2008, Jerome began playing in Guillaume Saint-James’ ensemble, Jazzarium.

Jerome performs with many international jazz musicians, plays at jazz festivals all over Europe, and  recorded a CD of his own compositions titled “My Words” accompanied by a string orchestra made up of musicians from the National Orchestra of France, as well as Olivier Ker Ourio (harmonica), Stephane Huchard (drums) and Pierre de Bethmann (piano).

In addition to Jerome’s master bass-playing skills, he is also in demand for his skills as a recording engineer. He is also a published author, having written manuals for the teaching of music from Africa and Brazil for the National Education at Jazzimuth Creation Conference.
