Our April program
begins with Claude Debussy's Prelude to Afternoon of a Faun and ends
with his work La Mer.
German-born violinist Axel Strauss, now on
the faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, will shine in
Beethoven's Violin Concerto, one of the most technically demanding pieces in
the violin repertory. Both playful and majestic, this concerto is a showcase
for a virtuoso performer.
Also on the program is the world premiere of
River of Mercy (world premiere; Words 7 Music Project) written for
orchestra and chorus by local composer Andrew Norman.
