||Legend. American icon. Jazz titan. These are just a handful of
the accolades used to describe jazz pianist and composer and East Bay native
Dave Brubeck, whose music will be celebrated by Oakland East Bay
Symphony and guest artists on Saturday, June 1 at the Paramount Theatre.
This one-night only event will feature the full orchestra
conducted by Michael Morgan and a dazzling line-up of guest artists, including
Chris Brubeck (trombone & bass), Taylor Eigsti (piano),
Dayna Stephens (saxophone), Frederica von Stade (mezzo-soprano).
Jason Lewis (drums), and Wesla Whitfield (vocalist). The program
will include such famous Brubeck standards as Take Five, Blue Rondo a la
Turk and Unsquare Dance.
We'll also present the
Grammy-nominated symphonic work Ansel Adams: America, a tribute
to one of America's most cherished artists written by Chris and Dave Brubeck
and featuring 102 stunning Ansel Adams images. This is the first time that
permission has been given by the Ansel Adams Trust to allow his masterful
American photographs to be used in a concert setting.
A limited number
of Premium tickets, which include admission to an exclusive reception with
Michael Morgan and Guest Artists, are available only through OEBS. Call
