Ronn Guidi – Choreographer Bolero D’Amore

ronn-guidi-sm.JPGRonn Guidi came out of a six-year retirement in 2007 to bring the Oakland Ballet Company back to life after it closed a year earlier. Mr. Guidi founded the Oakland Ballet in 1965 and served as the Artistic Director for 33 years. He is recognized and acclaimed both locally and throughout the dance world for the repertoire he created for the Oakland Ballet. As a choreographer, he received critical and audience acclaim for his full length ballets, The Nutcracker, The Secret Garden, Hansel and Gretel, and Romeo and Juliet. He has created over 50 ballets.

 

In 1968, Ronn founded the Oakland Ballet Academy to train dancers not only for the Oakland Ballet, but also for other companies in the United States and Europe. Many of his students have danced with notable companies including the Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, San Francisco Ballet, Ballet West, and of course the Oakland Ballet Company. In 2001, Mr. Guidi formed The Ronn Guidi Foundation for the Performing Arts to support the artistic and professional development of young dancers and to continue to bring ballet to the community.




Diane Tembey-Stawicki and Susan Bostwick
diane-susan.JPGChoreographers Diane Tembey-Stawicki and Susan Bostwick were born in Oakland. The sisters have always worked together choreographing and producing shows throughout the country and the world, and performing with Ashton Productions, Wayne Newton, Robert Goulet, and Goldie Hawn. Diane and Susan are currently producing the Golden Follies, a high energy revue featuring performers ages 55 to 85, strutting to music from production themes from nostalgia to Broadway.  Both sisters share in giving these performers a whole new perspective on their golden years.
