Our season concludes with the enormously popular multi-chorus extravaganza, Let Us Break Bread Together. And yes, even this concert will include a work by Mozart! We'll open the program with his witty Overture to the farcical opera The Impresario, written in 1786. We'll then return to the 21st century, where some of your favorite local choirs will perform American popular songs, spirituals and classical tunes with the orchestra. This year's concert will include a tribute to the great jazz pianist Ed Kelly, who passed away recently. A commission by composer Ellen Hoffman, this new work will receive its world premiere on this program, and include Patti Cathcart (of Tuck & Patti), as vocal soloist. The concert also features the world premiere performance of Cantate Domino by composer Frank La Rocca. Aother world premiere featured in the program is by Bay Area composer Laurence Rosenthal written for the Oakland Symphony Chorus. There's nothing quite like "Break Bread" - and as a subscriber, you're guaranteed your seats at this sell-out event! ![]() |
