International Music Institute & Festival (IMIF-USA) is hosted by Mount Saint Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland - just an hour from Washington and Baltimore. This safe, peaceful, and serene environment is the ideal location for young musicians to meet, learn, and perform. Students receive four individual lessons in the 10-day period, perform in student ensembles, attend daily lectures, workshops, and concerts by faculty and guest artists, and perform in concerts, both at MSMU and in surrounding areas. In addition, students participate in recreational activities including hiking and swimming, and receive career guidance from their faculty mentors. The faculty include acclaimed performers and teachers who have performed as soloists or as members of major orchestras around the world.

Sarteano Chamber Choral Workshop
High School/Young Adult Division in Italy July 11-18, 2008

This international workshop is for singers ages 15 - 20, who are looking for a strong chamber ensemble experience. You will be part of a twenty-six to twenty-eight voice ensemble that will perform a capella choral music from madrigals to the twentieth century.

Simon Carrington: professor, the Yale School of Music, will be conducting the ensemble. In an exciting interest session, Simon will also be hosting a Q&A/dialog session for prospective college students; answering questions about the college audition process, the life of a professional singer, and other topics of your choice.

Bronislawa Falinska: our visiting artist in vocal pedagogy, will be joining us over the 8 days to lead sessions using the Rohmert method of Functional Voicetraining. Get ready for a sensorial exploration of the voice, and to explore how self-perception works in the combination of "hearing-feeling-seeing."

Brian O'Connell: founder/director of both of the Sarteano Workshops, explores innovative approaches to ensemble singing and esprit de corps within a group.

Jazz Camp is July 11-15 and is for all ages, all instruments and voice. A great camp! Great faculty! We have a faculty of 11, mostly from the Bay Area, under the Artistic Direction of Bill Douglass.
