Rules & Requirements
- Eligibility
-Students whose
primary residence is in Alameda or Contra Costa Counties and/or their private
teacher's studio is located in those counties (see
rules sheet) and/or full-time student participating in the music program
at a school in those counties. -Open to all orchestral instruments and
piano
- Age divisions
- Junior Division (10 to 15 years) - Senior Division
(16 through 22 years)
- Awards
Junior Award: Solo performance with the
Oakland East Bay Symphony at the October 2007 Young People's Concerts in
Oakland.
Senior Award: Solo performance as guest artist with
the Oakland East Bay Symphony on the 2008 Subscription Concert at the 3,000
seat Paramount Theatre.
Honorable
Mentions: In addition, candidates awarded Honorable Mention are given
performance opportunities - which may include performing at the Pre-Concert
Series (Paramount Theatre) and/or performing as soloist with the Oakland Civic
Orchestra.
Note: Awards are not necessarily awarded or limited to one
winner.
- Requirements
-Completed
application form with teacher's signature. -Application fee of $20 must
accompany application (fee returned if applicant is not invited to
audition). -Applicants must provide their own accompanists.
- Repertoire
Junior Division: One movement of a concerto from
the standard repertoire (to be approved by OEBS).
Senior Division: Full
concerto from the standard repertoire (to be approved by
OEBS).
Application Deadline, May 25, 2007 (late
applications cannot be accepted).
